Tomorrow is the fourth Thursday of November. Every year on this date American people gather for a day of feasting, football and family. Although the celebrations today are quite different from the original 1621 harvest meal, it is still a day for Americans to meet around the table.
Some facts about Thanksgiving today:
- In the US, about 280 million turkeys are sold for the Thanksgiving celebrations.
- Californians are the largest consumers of turkey in the United States.
- Although Thanksgiving is widely considered an American holiday, it is also celebrated on the second Monday of October in Canada.
- Black Friday is the Friday after Thanksgiving in the United States, the beginning of the traditional Christmas shopping season.
